Just came back from clinicals not long ago.. As I look back at this week of clinicals, I realised that its really a meangingful week as I've not only learnt a lot of things but aso built rapport with some patients and their family. I've got to know 2 patients who became my so called"good friends". One was communicable while the other wasn't. Shall start off with the non-communicable patient. He is 90years old and is the first patient that I came in contact with during my first day of clinical this week. He had stayed in the hospital for sometime thus i got to see him eveyday. I enjoyed looking after him, although we can't communicate, we seems to click well..i understands what he wants and his preferences and he gives in to me whenever i coaxed him during times when he dosen't wants to eat..He's really a cute patient who always likes to press the call bell without much reason. However I have never felt irritated probably because of the rapport that we built with each other as well as the sympathy that i had for him. He will ask me time and again everyday about the time and ask me why hasen't his daughters come..=( BUT today his daughters came!! I was glad when I saw his daughter feeding him..really glad for him..=D

The other good friend of mine was a communicable patient who was around 70+ years old. Got to know him as I was participating in his admission procedure. This patient was friendly and educated. He started the conversation by asking me about my surname cos I actually had a rather so called "rare" surname when pronounnced in English. Soon we became friends he will occassionally introduce to his family members whenever someone comes to visit him. He likes share his stories with me from his past occupation to almost everyone in his family..His family members was rather smart and well educated. One of his daughter actually work in some governmet department while another was from NUS under the drepartment which I will be having the module next semester, a grandson studying medicine and a daughter working overseas. Really had a shock when I came to know that his daughter is under a department from NUS which I will be taking the module next sem... :| He really had a wonderful family who never fails to visit him everyday.. He once told me that we are just are just like Mother Theresa taking care of the people in need and of course I told him we are not that great like Mother Theresa haha.. We will usually greet each other when see each other and it really feels warm to so..=)

Other than these 2 so called good friends of mine, there are also other patients and their family who made me feel what I did for them was meaningful and worth it..=) I hereby wish all of them to be in good health and discharge as soon as possible. =D
